LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Pitcher
Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) threw a game-one gem and the offense soared in Game 2, as the Lock Haven University baseball team (15-5, 4-2 PSAC East) powered its way to an important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division sweep of Kutztown University (11-10, 2-3 PSAC East) today.
LHU won Game 1, 2-1 behind Belinda's strong effort on the mound and in Game 2, Lock Haven scored 10 runs on nine hits in a 10-1 victory.
Belinda was the story in Game 1 as he went the distance and improved to 5-0 on the season thanks to a 12-strikeout effort. He allowed just four hits including a bloop-single to center and one where the ball dribbled fair down the left field line after a check swing. It marked Belinda's second 12-strikeout game of the season.
Evan McFarland (Cottonwood, Ariz./Gateway Community College) was 2 for 3 at the plate.
LHU scored both runs in the third as
Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) drove in a run and Kutztown walked a run home with the bases loaded.
Pitcher
Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) went the distance in Game 2 and picked up the win. He struck out five in the 10-1 win as the Bald Eagles rotation provided another outstanding outing.
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) drove in three runs and McFarland was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Lock Haven and Kutztown will play again tomorrow (Monday, April 3) and cap the four-game series with two games scheduled for 1/3 p.m. at Kutztown.
