LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-8, 6-6 PSAC) needed a win to keep its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason hopes alive, but No. 17 Mercyhurst University (11-4, 9-3) held on for a 10-5 victory despite a strong second-half push by the Bald Eagles.
LHU trailed 6-1 at halftime, but the Bald Eagles never quit and scored four second-half goals on 14 second-half shots.
Prior to today's game, LHU honored its four seniors:
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers),
Emily Brunie (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley),
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.).
Engler - a senior - scored two goals, adding to her remarkable two-year total and fellow senior-Bissnette added a goal and an assist to cap her brilliant career.
Brunie had two shots and Houde made six saves in another strong effort to round out the senior-day performances.
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) and
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) added goals for Lock Haven.
