2017 PSAC Tournament Central
QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (26-20) got a pair clutch home runs which helped the Bald Eagles stave off elimination and drop California (Pa.) University (22-17) 6-1 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.
With the loss Cal was eliminated and the Bald Eagles will play Gannon, the loser of Game 10 at 5 p.m. this evening.
Yesterday, Lock Haven opened the tournament with a 10-2 (5 inn.) loss to Seton Hill.
Bryann Hilty's (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) pinch-hit three-run home run in the seventh highlighted a four-run inning for the Bald Eagles and led Lock Haven to the win.
It was the second home run of the game for LHU as the long ball proved to be key for the Bald Eagles, who rebounded after their Day 1 loss.
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Huntingdon) hit a two-run homer in the fourth.
In all, Lock Haven scored six runs on eight hits.
Garlock was 2 for 4 and her two-run homer in the top of the fourth opened the game's scoring. Cal was quick to get one run back in the bottom of the inning and the LHU-lead was 2-1 after four.
Leading 2-1 after six, Hilty broke open the game in the seventh with the three-run home run.
