The LHU field hockey team is set for a pair of non-conference road contests this weekend.

Setting the stage:
The Bald Eagles will open a two-game weekend on Friday, September 1 at Towson (7 p.m.), before traveling to Georgetown on Sunday, September 3 for a 1 p.m. contest.

Last season, Lock Haven beat Towson, 8-0. LHU is 6-1 all-time vs. Towson.

LHU and Georgetown did not play last season. The Bald Eagles downed the Hoyas 4-1 in 2015 to remain a perfect 7-0 all-time vs. Georgetown.

Perfect on opening weekend:
LHU opened the season with a pair of thrilling wins. In the opener, Lock Haven got goals from four different players and downed Sacred Heart, 4-1. On Sunday (Aug. 27), LHU needed overtime to cap a come-from-behind win over Central Michigan. The Bald Eagles tied the game late and needed just 54 seconds of overtime to win it.

Smith named A-10 Player of the Week:
Junior
Alyscia Smith was named Week 1's Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) Player of the Week. Smith shared the honor with Chessa Kownurko of VCU. The Bald Eagles beat Sacred Heart Friday and downed Central Michigan Sunday in an overtime-thriller. Smith scored the game-winning goal in both contests including the overtime-winner just 54 seconds into OT in the victory over visiting CMU. On Friday, in the 4-1 win over Sacred Heart, Smith added two assists to go along with her game-winning strike.

Road swing:
After opening the 2017 season with a pair of home games, LHU will hit the road for six straight. Friday's game at Towson starts a six-game road swing that takes the Bald Eagles to Towson, Georgetown, Colgate, Siena, La Salle and Saint Joseph's.
