The LHU volleyball team will open the 2017 season this weekend at Edinboro University's Rebich Investments Invitational.
Setting the stage:
The Bald Eagles will play two matches on Friday, September 1 at Edinboro, taking on Bellarmine at 12 p.m. and Walsh (Ohio) at 5 p.m. On Saturday at Edinboro, LHU will play Fairmont State and Davis & Elkins.
Tournament play is the story early:
For LHU, it will be all about tournament play early on this season as Lock Haven will hit the road for three straight weekend tournaments. Following the Edinboro Tournament, the Bald Eagles will head to the Shepherd Tournament (Sept. 8 – Sept. 9), before the Notre Dame Tournament (Sept. 15 – Sept. 16).
What to look for:
LHU second-year head coach
Shannon Gerencir and the Bald Eagles will look to improve on last season. To do so, Lock Haven will rely on the veteran leadership of seniors
Annie Dombrowski and
Holly Shoemaker. The Bald Eagles will also feature a new look thanks to four freshmen on the roster.
The road ahead:
The Bald Eagles will open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Friday, September 22 at 7 p.m. when they host Slippery Rock.
