Bald Eagles get No. 25 Slippery Rock in Week 3

The LHU football team is headed west for another PSAC crossover clash. The Bald Eagles will meet No. 25 Slippery Rock in Week 3 action.

Setting the stage:
On Saturday, September 16, the Lock Haven University football team will head to No. 25 Slippery Rock University for a 6 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover.
 
Lock Haven enters the game at 0-2. In Week 1 (Sept. 2), LHU fell to NCAA Division I (FCS) Saint Francis and the Bald Eagles fell at Edinboro last week in Week 2 action.
 
The Rock enters the game at 2-0. SRU downed Kentucky State during Week 1 action and edged perennial PSAC East power West Chester last weekend at home.
 
Next weekend, Lock Haven will host West Chester, the unanimous PSAC preseason favorite in the Bald Eagles 2017 Homecoming game.
 
Haven hits:
  • All-American Trent Fielding (OL, RG/C) has made 34 career starts, which is tied for the third-most among all active PSAC players.
  • Fielding's stat line: WK1, 16 pancakes, 2 knockdown cuts | WK2, 8 pancakes, 7 knockdown cuts | TOT (2 games), 24 pancakes, 9 knockdown cuts, 33 total knockdown blocks.
  • LHU also returns All-American/All-Region/All-Conference TE Del'Vaughn Dennis.
  • After making a spot start in 2016 vs. Cheyney, R-Jr. QB Cameron Tobias officially took over the starting duties during Week 1 at Saint Francis. He has two career passing TDs, throwing for one touchdown in each of the previous two seasons. Tobias threw for a career-high 282 yards at Edinboro.
  • 2015 All-PSAC DB Daniel Strawbridge returned this season for the Bald Eagles. The First Team selection in 2015 (82 tackles) missed last season, but returned in Week 1 of this season to anchor the secondary. Last week at Edinboro, Strawbridge made a team-high 10 tackles and recorded two of LHU's four interceptions.
  • 2016 All-PSAC DB Isiah Flamer leads LHU with 23 tackles through two games.
  • Through two games, WR Bryan Greene leads LHU with 12 catches and 133 yards (56.5 yds/game).
  • LHU head coach Dave Taynor (Urbana, '99) is in his third season as head coach at LHU (3rd season (6-18), 10th overall (43-58).
