SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-5, 0-2 PSAC East) dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game this afternoon at Shippensburg University (5-0, 2-0 PSAC East), 37-6.
Shippensburg jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead and rushed for 220 total yards, which paved the way for the win. Red Raider quarterback Ryan Zapoticky threw for two touchdowns and Colin McDermott rushed for a pair of scores to highlight Ship's offensive unit.
For Lock Haven, place-kicker
Nick Boumerhi (Philipsburg, Pa./Penn State) connected from 32 and 34 yards, and provided the scoring for the Bald Eagles.
Obadiah Asare (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby),
Fernando Flores (York, Pa./Northeastern),
Neil Satterwhite (Philadelphia/West Catholic),
Daniel Strawbridge (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) and
Isaiah Flamer (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led a strong defensive outing for LHU.
Asare and Flores each finished with 10 tackles, while Strawbridge and Satterwhite both had nine. Flamer made eight tackles and forced one fumble.
Chantz Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata H.S.) rushed for 54 yards on 10 carries, while
Elliot Walker (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and
Kyeef Williams (Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Charter) recorded three catches apiece.
Next Saturday, November 7 (Week 6), the Bald Eagles return home to host Cheyney University (12 p.m.).
