LHU back on the road, headed to Colgate & Siena

Week 3 Notes: The LHU field hockey team will hit the road again this week as the Bald Eagles take on Colgate and Siena in non-conference action.

Haven hits:
  • LHU is headed back on the road for the second straight weekend.
  • LHU went 1-1 last week, topping Towson before falling to Georgetown.
  • LHU is 3-1 overall on the season.
  • LHU is 2-0 at home.
  • LHU is 1-1 on the road.
  • Friday's game at Colgate marks LHU's third straight road game and the third of six straight away from home.
  • Leading scorer Alyscia Smith has the game-winning goal in all three wins for Lock Haven.
 
Setting the stage:
For the second straight weekend, the LHU field hockey team will play a pair of road contests.  
 
The Bald Eagles will open a two-game road weekend at Colgate on Friday, September 8 (6:30 p.m.). Last season, LHU beat Colgate, 5-0 and the Bald Eagles are 13-2 all-time vs. the Raiders.
 
On Sunday, September 10, Lock Haven heads to Siena for a 12 p.m. contest. Last year, Lock Haven downed Siena, 3-0 and the Bald Eagles are a perfect 10-0 all-time vs. the Saints.
 
Perfect on opening weekend:
LHU opened the season with a pair of thrilling wins. In the opener (Fri., Aug. 25), Lock Haven got goals from four different players and downed Sacred Heart, 4-1. On Sunday (Aug. 27), LHU needed overtime to cap a come-from-behind win over Central Michigan. The Bald Eagles tied the game late and needed just 54 seconds of overtime to win it.
 
Smith named A-10 Player of the Week (Aug. 28):
Junior Alyscia Smith was named Week 1's Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) Player of the Week. Smith shared the honor with Chessa Kownurko of VCU. The Bald Eagles beat Sacred Heart Friday and downed Central Michigan Sunday in an overtime-thriller. Smith scored the game-winning goal in both contests including the overtime-winner just 54 seconds into OT in the victory over visiting CMU. On Friday, in the 4-1 win over Sacred Heart, Smith added two assists to go along with her game-winning strike.

Following Sunday's (Sept. 10) game at Siena, LHU will return to action on Friday, September 15 at 3 p.m. at La Salle in LHU's 2017 A-10 opener. Lock Haven will travel to Saint Joseph's on Sunday, September 17 (12 p.m.) for conference action.
