HAMILTON, N.Y. – With 2:11 left in double-overtime all the Lock Haven University field hockey team's (4-1) hard work paid off as
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) put the ball in the back of the cage, giving the Bald Eagles a thrilling 1-0 (2OT) win at Colgate University (2-3) tonight.
Roach's 98
th minute strike came off a pass from
Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled) from a corner attempt.
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) went the distance and finished with five saves.
The Bald Eagles dominated Colgate and outshot the hosts 28-10. LHU held a 14-5 advantage in corners.
Colgate goalkeeper Maria Krull was strong and she finished with 17 saves, before Roach finally got one past her late in double-OT.
On the season, LHU is now 2-0 in overtime games.
Lock Haven heads to Siena for a Sunday (September 10) match at 12 p.m.
