Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer edged out at home by Mercyhurst

The LHU men’s soccer team fell at home to Mercyhurst 4-3.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (5-6-2, 3-4-1 PSAC) fell to Mercyhurst (6-4-2, 3-2-2 PSAC) by a score of 4 to 3.

Mercyhurst held a slight 12-10 advantage in shots, however Lock Haven led 6-5 in corners.

The Lakers took an early two goal lead, but the Bald Eagles got one back when Christian Wieand (Elizabethtown, Pa./Muhlenberg) caught the Laker defense off guard, taking a quick free kick and finishing it to the far post.

Down 4-1 late in the second half, in the 73rd minute Brian Flatter (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) made some magic happen when he bent a shot from distance past the keeper.

Only two minutes later in the 75th minute, Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown), who led the Bald Eagles in shots with 5, scored after collecting a pass from Colton Dellinger (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and tucking it past the keeper for his team leading 7th goal of the year.

Despite a strong final push from the Bald Eagles, including a last minute header from Sibiski that missed just high, Mercyhurst was able to hold on to the lead as the score finished 4-3.

LHU will hit the road to take on West Chester on Sunday, October 14 (3:30 p.m.).
