Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

LHU edged out in PSAC Quarterfinal at West Chester

Host and No. 4 seed West Chester scored once in each half and downed the No. 5 seed LHU women’s soccer team, 2-0, today in PSAC Quarterfinal action.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Host and No. 4 seed West Chester University (13-4-1) scored late in the first half and early in the second half to edge the No. 5 seed Lock Haven University women's soccer team (11-5-1), 2-0, in today's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal action.

With the loss, LHU bows out of the 2018 PSAC Tournament, Lock Haven's first PSAC postseason appearance in 12 years.

West Chester opened the scoring late in the first half after Madison Baxter made it 1-0 in the 40th minute. The late first-half goal helped the Golden Rams hold a 1-0 halftime lead.

WCU made it 2-0 early in the second after Nikki Zaso scored in the 54th minute.

LHU goalkeeper Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) did all she could to keep the Bald Eagles in the tightly contested match and she finished with three saves.

Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) led Lock Haven with six shots including three on target. LHU held a slight 11-10 advantage in shots.

The Bald Eagles took control of the match early and looked to be the aggressor throughout.

Early in the match, it looked as if Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead, but the goal was called back because of an offside-call. Just after West Chester took the 2-0 lead, LHU put one behind WCU keeper McKenna Mullin, but again it was called back because of a Lock Haven player being offside.

Despite the forward play, Lock Haven just couldn't crack the scoresheet.

Mullin made six saves for West Chester over 90 minutes.

Lock Haven is now 11-5-1 overall and will await the 2018 NCAA Selection Show on Monday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. (www.NCAA.com).
