Field Hockey heads to Davidson for A-10 contest

The LHU field hockey team is headed to Davidson for an Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) contest on Friday (Oct. 5) at 5:30 p.m.

After two straight home games, the Lock Haven University field hockey is headed back on the road to take on Davidson College in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action. The game is set for Friday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m. and marks the first of five straight A-10 contests for the Bald Eagles.
 
Lock Haven is coming off an 0-2 weekend, and overall, the Bald Eagles are 6-5. LHU is looking for its first conference win of the 2018 season. Lock Haven is 0-2 in league play after losses to Massachusetts and nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's. Three of Lock Haven's six wins on the year have come on the road.
 
Davidson is 4-6 overall and 1-1 in A-10 play. Last season – in Lock Haven – the Bald Eagles won, 2-1. LHU is 5-0 all-time vs. Davidson, who is coming off a 2-1 win over Yale.

Rudy getting closer to history:
To date, LHU's Hall of Fame head coach Pat Rudy has 599 career wins and is now just one win away from hitting the 600-win mark, an accomplishment only achieved by two other coaches in the history of college field hockey. Rudy's 599 wins are third all-time. She entered the season ranked among the top-20 all-time in win percentage as well, and is already one of the winningest coaches of all-time. The win over Cornell (Sept. 2) at home this season marked Rudy's 350th win at LHU, her alma mater. In January ('18), she was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Hall of Fame.
 
Smith leads the offense:
Alyscia Smith leads Lock Haven's offense with a team-high nine goals, team-high six assists and team-high 24 points. Her nine goals ranked fourth in the A-10, her six assists rank in a tie for No. 2 and she's fourth overall in total points. Dana-Lee De Gannes has seven goals. Overall, Lock Haven is averaging 3.09 goals-per-game thanks to 34 total goals scored.
 
Strong goaltending:
Brianna DeAngelis has been solid in goal for Lock Haven. In 11 starts and 781-plus minutes, she's recorded a 1.61 goals-against average, which ranks No. 2 in the A-10.

Up next:
The Bald Eagles will host somewhat-local A-10 rival Saint Francis next week in a midweek 3 p.m. contest on Wednesday, October 10. Next week, Lock Haven will also host Saint Louis on Sunday, October 14 at 12 p.m.
