SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (0-2) dropped a tightly contested game to Virginia Union (1-1) 67-59 at the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic hosted by Shippensburg University Sunday afternoon.
LHU held a 34-28 at the half over the Panthers and held a 57-56 lead with just under three minutes remaining, but Virginia Union was able to close the game on an 11-2 run to pull ahead and edge out the Haven.
Offensively, The Bald Eagles were led by a strong showing from Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville). The junior forward scored 23 points in the game on 7-14 from the field while knocking down four three-pointers. He also added six rebounds and two steals.
Matt Cerruti (Huntington Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) also had a strong game, finishing with 13 points to go with four rebounds and two assists while knocking down three three-pointers.
Jaylen Washington (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) added nine points and a team high three steals while Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) finished with five points and a team high nine rebounds.
Up Next: The Bald Eagles will return to Thomas Fieldhouse for their home opener against Carlow College. That game is scheduled for Monday, November 19 with a 6:00 PM tip.
