LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) recorded eight points,
Katie Costanza (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored five goals and goalkeeper
Lauren Marte (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) finished with 11 saves including one in the final minutes, and the trio powered the No. 22 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (7-2, 3-1 PSAC) to a thrilling 13-12 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win over visiting Seton Hill (2-7, 1-4 PSAC).
With the win, Lock Haven rebounded in a big way and bounced back from the narrow mid-week loss at Millersville on Wednesday. The Bald Eagles remained unbeaten at home on the season, improving to 5-0.
Kilian paced the Lock Haven offense with two goals and six assists. Her play fueled the strong second-half effort from the Bald Eagles attack.
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) finished with two goals and eight draw controls.
Lock Haven and Seton Hill were deadlocked at 8-8 after the opening half.
Trailing 11-10, LHU's
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) scored with 10:17 left to tie the game at 11-11. Goals from O'Herrick and
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) stretched the Lock Haven lead to 13-11 with 7:44 left in regulation. Despite a late Seton Hill goal to cut within one, Marte made the difference.
Marte made a huge save with 1:21 left on a Seton Hill free-position attempt. The save all, but sealed the win, as Lock Haven was able to run out the clock after the stop.
Emily Gerhart (Barto, Pa./Boyertown),
Katie McDonough (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and
Anneli Starry (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) all played well on defense in front of Marte, who was solid throughout her 11-save game. Seven of her 11 stops came in the second half, including the stop with just over a minute to play that sealed the Lock Haven victory.
LHU will return to action on Wednesday, April 4 at No. 21 East Stroudsburg University (4 p.m.).
