LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 23 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-4, 5-3 PSAC) remained unbeaten at home on the season (7-0) and celebrated Senior Day in style as the Bald Eagles soared to a lopsided 19-6 win over Kutztown University (6-8, 3-6 PSAC).
The big Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory pushed LHU to 5-3 in conference play and helped Lock Haven rebound from a narrow mid-week loss at local-rival Bloomsburg.
Today marked LHU's 2018 Senior Day and prior to the start of the game, the Bald Eagles honored their 10 seniors:
Katie Costanza (Denver, Pa./Cocalico),
Katie McDonough (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot),
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg),
Madison Eberly (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township),
Dana Laulis (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley),
Carson Masters (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown),
Sam Dotterer (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin),
Emily Gerhart (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) and
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley).
The Costanza, Gochenaur and Kilian 'senior-trio' paced LHU's explosive offense. Both Costanza and Gochenaur finished with four goals apiece and Kilian dished out seven assists to compliment her two-goal outing.
Three other Bald Eagles recorded a two-goal game including O'Herrick, who scored twice to go along with her eight draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Gerhart recorded three caused turnovers and added four ground balls to lead the way for a Lock Haven defensive unit that was nothing short of remarkable this afternoon. In all, the Bald Eagle 'D' was credited with 15 caused turnovers.
Starting goalkeeper
Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) finished with six saves on the way to the win.
On Tuesday, April 17, Lock Haven will host nationally-ranked IUP at 4 p.m.
