Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer edged by Kutztown

Playing at home for the first time this season, the LHU women’s soccer team fell to Kutztown in PSAC action.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 PSAC) fell 2-0 to Kutztown University (3-1, 1-1 PSAC) today in the Bald Eagles' 2018 home-opener.

The visitors scored once in each half of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match.

Kutztown led 1-0 at halftime after a tightly contested first half. Against the run of play, the Golden Bears were rewarded a penalty kick and Alyssa Ryan converted from the spot for the game's opening goal (43').

Early in the second half, Emily Zwiercan made it 2-0 (54').

Despite the loss, several Bald Eagles stood out in their first game of the 2018 season on their home turf.

Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) registered five of LHU's 11 shots and she finished with four shots on target. A pair of long shots late in the match tested KU goalkeeper Jenna Bracken, who finished with five saves.

Defensively Jordan Shoff (York Pa./York Suburban) and Carly Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) played well for The Haven.

Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) made four saves, including a brilliant diving stop late in the first half, which at the time kept the match deadlocked at 0-0.

LHU will host Edinboro on Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m.
