Game Recap: Field Hockey |

LHU edged out at local-rival Bucknell

The LHU field hockey team was edged 3-2 in a thriller vs. longtime rival Bucknell.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-2) was edged 3-2 today on the road at local-rival Bucknell University (3-2).

The Bison scored in the final minutes, which proved to be the deciding factor in thrilling non-conference match between the two local rivals. Today's game marked the 49th meeting between the two central Pennsylvania NCAA Division I field hockey programs, who first played in 1954.

Katie Supey (Lehman, Pa./Syracuse) and MacKenzie Farley (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) scored for the Bald Eagles, who dominated the second half of play after trailing by one at halftime.

Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled) played well on defense for The Haven and she finished with an assist. LHU goalkeeper Brianna DeAngelis (Doylestown, Pa./Monmouth) made five saves including two big ones in the final stages of the game.

Bucknell opened the scoring just 3:35 into the contest after the Bison scored following a penalty corner.

LHU tied the match in the 22nd minute after Supey tipped home a pass from Judy after a goal-mouth scramble that developed after a Lock Haven penalty corner.

Lexi Quick put Bucknell ahead, 2-1, in the 48th minute of play.

Once again the Bald Eagles responded and after several near misses, the pressure paid off. Coming out of a Lock Haven timeout, Farley quickly scored a spectacular goal and made it 2-2 in the 60th minute of play. Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval) was credited with the assist on the second Lock Haven goal.

With the game tied late, Bucknell tallied the game-winner with just 1:12 left in the contest on a goal by Nicole Rupnik.

LHU will host Colgate on Sunday, September 9 at 1 p.m.
