The calendar now reads 2019 and the Lock Haven University men's basketball team is ready to start Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) divisional play. The Bald Eagles will open PSAC East play tonight at 7:30 p.m. when they make the short distance east to take on local-rival Bloomsburg.
Lock Haven sits at .500 on the season thanks to a 4-4 record. The Bald Eagles are currently 3-2 in PSAC play and are coming off an 86-81 victory at Edinboro on December 19.
Bloomsburg enters tonight's game with a 4-4 record and the Huskies are 1-4 in PSAC play. BU has lost four straight, but is 3-1 at home.
Leading the way for Lock Haven this season is
Matt Cerruti, who is averaging a team-best 19 points per game. It's the seventh best scoring mark in the PSAC.
Christian Kelly has been solid for LHU and is scoring 17 points per game while also grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game. Balanced scoring has been a key for the Bald Eagles.
Jaylen Washington (9.5 pts/game),
Jesse McPherson (9 pts/game) and
Jihad Barnes (8.8 pts/game) are all helping to pace the offense. Barnes, who has played in all eight games and started seven, has 37 assists. His 4.6 assists per game rank seventh in the PSAC.
Looking ahead, LHU will host Mansfield on Saturday (Jan. 5) in PSAC East play. Mansfield is 1-10 (0-5 PSAC East) and doesn't play until Saturday's game here in The Haven. Fans will be able to track all the action live –
