Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey caps regular season with victory, extends win streak

The LHU field hockey team closed the regular season on a four-game win streak, thanks to a 1-0 win today at Rider.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (11-7) extended its win streak to four games and closed the 2019 regular season with a 1-0 win today at Rider University (12-6) in non-conference action.

The Bald Eagles will now turn their attention to the postseason as the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament awaits.

Today's victory at Rider – LHU's fourth straight win – was also Lock Haven's four straight victory by way of shutout and it marked the Bald Eagles eighth overall shutout this season, as the defense continues to shine.

The game was a tight one, but the Bald Eagles came out on top after the defensive unit proved too strong once again and LHU got a timely goal, which certainly helped edge out the hosts.

Lock Haven's goal came from MacKenzie Farley (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs). It was her fifth goal of the season and came in the 38th minute (37:02) of play off an assist from Jazmin Palma (Entre Rios Province, Argentina./Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus).

Standout goalkeeper Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Entre Rios, Argentina/San Antonio School) made three saves, as she pitched another shutout on the road.

Next up for the Bald Eagles is the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. The Atlantic 10 Tournament is set for Friday and Saturday (November 8-9) at Richmond University. LHU will enter the postseason having won seven of its last eight games.
