CLERMONT, Fl. – Rachel Gricoski (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) put together a strong day at the plate that led the Lock Haven University softball team (7-7) to a 2-0 day at the PFX Tournament as LHU climbed to 7-7 on the young season with wins over Holy Family (0-10) and Sioux Falls (9-7). In the first game, The Bald Eagles knocked off HFU, 6-1 before taking down SFU, 3-0.

Gricoski led the way for LHU, going 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. She finished a home run shy of the cycle, tallying a single, a double and a triple in the game.
Faith Ceely (Troy, Pa./Troy),
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) and
Stefanie O'Grady (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) all tallied two hits apiece for LHU in the game. Ceely finished 2-4 with a run scored while Caputo went 2-4 as well with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. O'Grady finished 2-3 with a run scored.
Casey Carpenter (Spring Brook, Pa./North Pocono) tallied two RBI's for the Bald Eagles.
As a team, Lock Haven pounded out 12 hits in the game, including four extra-base hits
Kayla Gee (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) was great in the circle for LHU in the win, throwing a complete-game four-hitter while striking out eight.
Game 2: W, 3-0
Game two was an all-out pitchers dual between
Bekah Slattery (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Sioux Falls' Kerrigan Hoshaw.
In the bottom of the fifth inning,
Mikayla Ruppert (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) broke up a 0-0 game when she singled down the left field line to score
Sara Gsell (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) and put LHU up 1-0.
Cling to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, Gricoski stepped up to the plate and drilled a two-run home run over the centerfield fence to put Lock Haven up 3-0 and secure the win
Gricoski led the way once again for the offense, tallying her home run to go with a run scored and two RBI's. Ruppert finished with a single and an RBI while Ceely and
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) both tallied hits as well.
Slattery went the distance in the circle, allowing four hits and striking out 12.

The Bald Eagles will wrap up the PFX Tournament tomorrow when the team plays their final two games. LHU will open the day with Le Moyne at 9:00 AM before finishing up the week with No. 23 Southern New Hampshire at 11:30 AM.
