Lacrosse drops PSAC road game at #25 Mercyhurst

The LHU lacrosse team got three more goals from Kate Hooper, but the Bald Eagles fell to host and 25th-ranked Mercyhurst, 15-8.

ERIE, Pa. – Kate Hooper (Perth, Western Australia/St. Mary Anglican Girls School) and Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) turned in a pair of sensational individual efforts, but their strong outings were not enough to spark the Bald Eagles to an upset, as the Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-8, 1-5 PSAC) fell to No. 25 Mercyhurst (6-5, 3-3 PSAC), 15-8, on the road today in conference action.

Hooper scored three goals and won eight draws, and Morrow had a five-point afternoon, thanks to two goals and three assists. Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) also stood out with two goals, four ground balls and four caused turnovers, but the outstanding individual efforts were not enough for Lock Haven today.

The Bald Eagles trailed the Lakers 8-4 at halftime after the two teams exchanged goals in the first five minutes of the contest.

Loren Librizzi (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) added a goal and LHU goalkeeper Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) was once gain stood tall and finished with a 16-save effort.

As a defensive unit, Lock Haven credited with 10 caused turnovers.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, April 10 when they host local-rival Bloomsburg at 4 p.m.
