Haskins, Joseph lead baseball to 4-game sweep of Mansfield

The LHU baseball team took two more games from Mansfield on Sunday to complete the weekend sweep.

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-14-1, 5-7 PSACE) won both games over Mansfield University (5-18, 2-9 PSACE) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action Sunday afternoon in Mansfield.
 
Game one: W, 7-5
 
LHU plated its seven runs on 11 hits.
 
Demetrius Haskins (Pittsburgh/Taylor Allderdice) broke open the game with a three-run homer in the second. Haskins finished 1 for 2 and also drew a walk.
 
Liam McArthur (Basking Ridge, N.J./Seton Hill) and Joe Zgleszewski (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) were both 3 for 4 at the plate and Reagan Lawlor (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
 
Ross Mintzer (Glenside, Pa./Rowan Gloucester CC) got the win for the Bald Eagles going five innings and giving up just one earned run. Mintzer allowed six hits and struck out two.
 
Game two: W, 4-1
 
After taking a 2-1 in the sixth inning, LHU would add insurance runs in the top half of the seventh to bring home the victory.
 
Max Joseph (Marlton, N.J./Harford CC) finished the day 3 for 4 with three RBI's. Two of his RBI's came in the seventh inning on a double that helped seal the win for Lock Haven. Lawlor's single in the sixth inning gave The Haven the lead, which they were able to see out..
 
Avery Eddy (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) started the game and pitched four strong innings for The Haven. Eddy allowed just one earned run and struck out three. Colby Hiddemen (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley) pitched the final three innings and struck out three. Hiddeman did not allow a run and allowed just one hit.
 
Next Up:
Lock Haven will travel to Indiana University (Pa.) on Tuesday, April 9 at 2 p.m. for a 9-inning contest.
