Baseball splits with #6 Millersville on Senior Day

The LHU baseball team lost game one 13-1, but responded and won 1-0 in a rain shortened second game on Senior Day at Watkins Field.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (18-24-1, 11-15 PSAC) split with No. 6  Millersville University (37-11, 22-4 PSAC) on Saturday (May 4) afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
 
Before the game the Haven honored its eight seniors: Jimmy Webb (Montoursville, Pa/Loyalsock), Max Joseph (Marlton, N.J./Harford CC), John Banes (Springfield, Pa./Cumberland CC), Demetrius Haskins (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice), Liam McArthur (Basking Ridge, N.J./Seton Hall), Pedro Peguero (Hershey, Pa./Mercyhurst North East CC), Jesse Slinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Youngstown St) and Ross Mintzer (Glenside, Pa./Rowan Gloucester CC).
 
Game 1: L, 13-1
 
Millersville plated four runs in the first inning, three in the third, and six in the fifth inning to power their way to a 13-1 win.
 
McArthur notched two of the six Bald Eagle hits. A trio of Bald Eagles, Webb, Banes and Isaac Porter (Beech Creek, Pa./St. Bonaventure) each tallied a hit for Lock Haven
 
Joe Zgleszewski (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) drove in the lone Bald Eagle run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
 
Game 2: W, 1-0
 
The Bald Eagles plated one run on six hits before the game was called in the fifth inning due to heavy rain and field conditions.
 
Peguero drove in the game-winning run on an RBI single in the first inning.
 
Mintzer got the start for The Haven and pitched all five innings. Mintzer allowed only one hit and struck out four batters.
 
Porter, Banes, Webb, Reagan Lawlor (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and Brandon Miller (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) each recorded one of the six Haven hits.
