As a player, current Lock Haven University head field hockey coach
Pat Rudy ('77) was one of several LHU alumnae that helped guide the United States Women's Master's Team to the gold medal at the 2019 Grand Masters Hockey European Trophy tournament in Antwerp, Belgium.
In the championship game, the United States won gold, thanks to a 3-0 victory over the Alliance Team. Coach Rudy made a key defensive save which immediately sparked an offensive attack that led to an all-important insurance goal.
Rudy was joined by LHU alumnae Jane (Shaw) Cygan ('81), Pam (Whittaker) Sherry ('78) and Denise Gobrecht ('79), all of whom played an important role in helping the United States take home the gold medal.
The United States went 1-0-2 in pool play and split a pair of friendlies before taking home the championship with the 3-0 win over the Alliance squad.
