LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (8-6, 5-4 PSAC East) returns to Lock Haven this Wednesday, Jan. 15, to face Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East rival West Chester (5-9, 3-6 PSAC East) at Thomas Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
RECAP:
- Lock Haven was edged out by Shepherd University last Saturday afternoon, falling 71-64 to the Rams at Butcher Arena in Shepherdstown, W. Va.
- Marena Lonardi (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) led Lock Haven with 13 points apiece against the Rams. Lonardi added six rebounds while Robinson added eight to increase her PSAC-leading rebounds mark to 152 (10.9/game).
- Two more Bald Eagles recorded in the double digits as Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCasky) both chipped in with 11 points. Devine, the most lethal foul shooter in the conference, went a perfect 4-4 from the line to increase her PSAC-best free throw percentage to .917, which is also good for ninth best in Division II Women's Basketball.
THE SERIES:
- The Bald Eagles faced the Golden Rams in Lock Haven last season, falling 51-62.
- West Chester holds a series advantage of 14-1 over LHU dating back to the 2010-11 season. The Bald Eagles last win over the Golden Rams came on Feb. 18, 2017, a 62-57 victory in Lock Haven.
SCOUTING WEST CHESTER:
- West Chester enters this week's matchup on a two-game win streak after having defeated Mansfield and Shippensburg last week. Before that, the Rams had won just one of their previous nine games.
- Freshman Leah Johnson, one of the top rookie scorers this year, leads the Golden Rams with 178 points (12.7) and 25 steals. On the defensive side, Gabrielle Troisi has recorded a team-high 96 rebounds while Junior Justyn Roberts has notched eight blocks.
- The Golden Rams have one of the best three-point field goal defenses in the PSAC, holding opponents to just a .270 three-point shooting percentage.
