Men’s Basketball prepares for Bloomsburg clash (Now Friday January 17)

The LHU Men’s Basketball team travels to Bloomsburg in a rescheduled game on Friday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team, fresh off their best win of the season over No. 12 West Chester, travel to Bloomsburg for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle on Friday (Jan. 17) at 5:30 p.m.
 
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 18, was moved due to the impeding winter storm on Saturday.

WEEKLY GAME NOTES:

The Bald Eagles enter the clash with a 7-7 overall record and a 4-6 PSAC mark. LHU currently boasts a three-game win streak featuring wins over Mansfield, Shepherd and No. 12 West Chester.
 
The win over West Chester marked the programs first win over a ranked team since 2014 and came courtesy of a 9-9 stretch from the floor to close a 89-84 win. The Bald Eagles got a huge boost from the three headed monster of Christian Kelly, Matt Cerruti and Jesse McPherson who accounted for 76 percent of the teams scoring. Each player tallied 20 points or more with Kelly dropping 27, Cerruti knocking down 21 and McPherson dominating the paint for 20 points.
 
Bloomsburg comes into Friday's matchup at 7-9 overall and 4-6 in the conference. The Huskies last time out was also Wednesday, when they fell 102-78 to Shippensburg despite a 22-point performance from senior guard Ky Mauras.
 
Bloomsburg's scoring is led by Justin Anderson and Mauras who both average 16 points per game. Anderson's 16.9 just edges out Mauras at 16.4 points per game. Max Wagner paces the Huskies with 7.9 rebounds per game and his mark is good enough for 10th best in the conference.
 
Haven Notes:
 
Kelly and Cerruti continue to lead the LHU offense and rank among the conference best in scoring. Kelly's 19.6 PPG is third best in the PSAC, and Cerruti's mark of 18.6 PPG is seventh best.
 
Kelly also ranks top on the team in rebounding at 8.2 per game, just edging out Nasir Campbell at 8.1 per game. The tandem on the glass rank fifth and sixth best in the conference in rebounds per game.
 
Trevor Lecuona has been a key driver in the offensive attack which is second best in the conference in assists averaging 16.5 per game. Lecuona sits at third best in the PSAC with a 2.3 assist to turnover ratio. His 64 total assists are a team best and conference fourth best this season.
 
As a defensive unit the Bald Eagles are relentless and rank second best in the conference in blocks averaging 4.5 rejections per game. Kelly leads the Haven and ranks second best in the PSAC with 1.6 blocks per game.

The Haven's next time on the hardwood will be against Millersville on Wednesday, January 22. The Bald Eagles will host the Marauders for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
