LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team hosts the Shippensburg University Raiders on Saturday, January 25. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division matchup is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
GAME NOTES:
The Bald Eagles enter this Saturday's matchup against the Raiders with an overall 8-8 record and a 5-7 PSAC mark. The Haven saw its four-game win streak snapped in their last outing in a heart-breaking, 83-80, loss to Millersville on Wednesday.
The Raiders roll into Saturday's matchup on an eight-game winning streak that features wins over then ranked No. 3 Indiana (Pa.) and No. 8 West Chester. Shippensburg currently sits at 15-3 overall and 11-1 in the PSAC, which currently is the best record in the PSAC East Division. In their last outing on Wednesday, the Raiders took down Kutztown, 94-82, thanks to a 27 point outburst from Jake Biss.
Biss currently leads the Raiders in scoring at 16.3 points per game. The Raiders are the best rebounding team in the PSAC with an average rebounding margin of 6.7. Leading that charge on the glass is John Castello, who ranks third in the PSAC, with 8.6 rebounds per game.
Team Notes:
Christian Kelly continues to lead the Haven in scoring averaging 20.1 points per game. Kelly's mark is second in the PSAC, while his backcourt partner
Matt Cerruti ranks sixth in the conference at 19 points per game.
Kelly and
Nasir Campbell attack the glass for the Haven and both rank in the top ten in the PSAC. Kelly's 7.9 rebounds per game ranks fifth in conference and Campbell's 7.6 per game is good enough for seventh place in the PSAC.
Lock Haven's balanced offense ranks second in the conference in total assists led by
Trevor Lecuona who ranks fifth in the conference in total assists with 73.
The Bald Eagles also lead the PSAC in blocked shots averaging 4.56 per game. The defensive effort is paced by Kelly and
Jesse McPherson who have totaled 24 and 23 rejected shots, respectively.
