WBB: Bald Eagles fall to Warriors on the road

LHU women’s basketball fell to East Stroudsburg in a back-and-forth matchup Wednesday evening

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The LHU women's basketball team (10-9, 7-7 PSAC East) was defeated by the East Stroudsburg Warriors (14-6, 10-4 PSAC East) 58-42 on Wednesday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East matchup.

The Bald Eagles and the Warriors were neck-and-neck at the start, trading points back and forth as each team fought to gain the lead. Lock Haven won the battle in the first, as a six-point run at the end of the quarter put LHU up 16-13 on the Warriors. The Haven would increase the lead to five points in the second quarter, the biggest deficit of the game so far, but East Stroudsburg came back to take the lead. The Warriors would hold on to the advantage until the last seconds of the half, when Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) tipped in a shot to knot it at 30 going in to halftime.

Redman got LHU on the board first in the second half, putting the Bald Eagles up 32-30. East Stroudsburg hit right back, taking the lead and holding on to a slight advantage for the remainder of the third quarter. The Warriors would pull away in the fourth quarter, going on a 12-point run and holding LHU scoreless for over seven minutes on the way to a 58-42 victory.

Marena Lonardi (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) led the Bald Eagles with 12 points and notched five rebounds, while Redman added 11 points and seven rebounds. Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) recorded a team-high eight rebounds, increasing her PSAC-leading total to 198 (10.4/game).

Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) and Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCasky) each added six points and six rebounds in the Bald Eagles' effort.

UP NEXT: Lock Haven returns home this weekend to face Shepherd at Thomas Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 1. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
