LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-7, 1-6 PSAC) is set to face Mansfield University (4-8, 3-4 PSAC) at Thomas Fieldhouse tonight, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

RECAP:
  • Lock Haven was edged out by Kutztown 77-73 last Monday, Jan. 6, in a nail-biter. The two teams were neck-and-neck from start to end, as the lead changed 17 times before the Golden Bears took over with under six minutes left in the game, holding on to the lead in the final minutes to secure the victory.
  • Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) led the Bald Eagles, notching 20 points and three blocks, both season bests for the junior. Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added 15 points while Trevor Lecuona (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) tallied 11. Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) rounded out the double-digit scorers for Lock Haven, contributing 10 points to the LHU effort.
 THE SERIES:
  • The Bald Eagles defeated the Mounties 63-60 last season in dramatic fashion as Cerruti hit a buzzer-beating three to give LHU the win. Trailing 60-58 with 11 seconds remaining, the Bald Eagles tied it up on a layup before Kelly grabbed the offensive rebound on an ensuing foul shot attempt to set up Cerruti for the game-winning heroics.
  • Lock Haven has won five straight against Mansfield, although the Mounties still hold a 9-7 series advantage dating back to the 2010 season. The Bald Eagles last loss at home to Mansfield came on Feb. 7, 2015, as LHU fell to the Mounties 79-84.
 SCOUTING MANSFIELD:
  • The Mountaineers last hit the court on Jan. 6, falling to Shippensburg 68-90 in Shippensburg. Mansfield has struggled on the road this season, going 1-3. Their sole road win came back on Nov. 23, an 87-73 victory over Seton Hill.
  • Senior Trevor English leads the Mounties with 202 points (16.8/game) and 124 rebounds (10.3/game). English leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in rebounding, and sits in the top 15 nationally with his mark of 10.3 rebounds per game.
  • Mansfield, who currently sits seventh in the PSAC East, has the worst ranked defense in the conference, allowing an average of 88.3 opponent points per game.
UP NEXT: Lock Haven hits the road this weekend, traveling to West Virginia to face Shepherd University on Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
