WBB set to wrap up regular season at Millersville

The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team will hit the road Saturday for the 2019-20 regular season finale

2/27/2020 2:19:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (14-12, 11-10 PSAC East) will close out the 2019-20 regular season against Millersville (8-18, 5-16 PSAC East) this Saturday, February 29 at 1:00 p.m.

THE SERIES:
  • Lock Haven defeated Millersville 82-75 earlier this season at Thomas Fieldhouse as Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCasky) each notched at least 20 points, the first Bald Eagle duo to do so in the past 10 years.
  • Along with this season's win, a sweep of the series with Millersville in the 2018-19 season helped the Bald Eagles establish their current three-game win streak over the Marauders. Since the 2010-11 season Lock Haven is 7-10 in the series against Millersville.

NEED TO KNOW:
  • Millersville has struggled through the final stretch of the season, dropping six of their last seven with their sole win coming over the last place Mounties on February 15. The Marauders have lost two straight since then, most recently falling 71-85 to the West Chester Golden Rams.
  • The Bald Eagles enter the regular season finale on a three-game win streak after downing second place East Stroudsburg 60-48 this past Wednesday, February 26. Devine, Lock Haven's career three-pointers leader, notched her 200th career three in the midweek matchup.
  • Lock Haven's offense is heating up as the trio of Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley), Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn), and Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) have all notched double figures in consecutive games, joining top scorers Devine and Marena Lonardi (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) to propel the Haven to their last few wins.
  • The Bald Eagles have one of the best rebounding marks in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), averaging 42.6 per game, which is second only to Shippensburg (44.2). Robinson has led the charge, recording 253 rebounds (9.7/game) this season to lead the PSAC.

UP NEXT: The Bald Eagles look ahead to the postseason as they prepare for the first round of the 2020 PSAC playoffs, set to begin on Monday, March 2. Locked in at the number five seed, Lock Haven awaits the results of Saturday's matchups to determine its first-round opponent.
