Men’s Basketball returns home for pivotal game against Kutztown

The LHU Men’s Basketball team is back at home with a conference matchup against Kutztown.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team returns home for a key conference contest against Kutztown on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8). The game is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
 
GAME NOTES:

The Bald Eagles enter this Wednesday's matchup against the Golden Bears with an overall 9-11 record and a 6-10 record in the PSAC East. The Bald Eagles have gone 4-4 in their last eight games including a key win over nationally ranked West Chester.

Kutztown comes to town with an overall record of 10-11 and 8-7 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East play. Kutztown is winners of their last two games defeating Bloomsburg and Millersville both at home.
 
Kutztown is led by the duo of Wesley Butler and Tarojae  Brake. Butler comes into the game averaging 19 points per game while Brake averages 15.7 points per game. Both marks are good enough for top 15 in conference play. Butler is also second on the team in assists averaging 2.1 a contest.
 
In addition to the scoring, Josh Townsend hauls in eight rebounds per game putting him in third in the PSAC.
 
The East Division match-up is in important one in terms of standings as Kutztown sits just one spot above Lock Haven. At this stage of the season every game matters with just six games left to be played.
 
Team Notes:
 
Christian Kelly ontinues to lead the Haven in scoring averaging 20 points per game. Kelly's mark is good for third in the conference, while his backcourt partner Matt Cerruti ranks tenth in the conference at 17.8 points per game. For Kelly, he has scored 24 points in back to back games giving him 11, 20-point games this season.
 
Nasir Campbell and Kelly continue to attack the glass for the Haven and both rank in the tops of the PSAC for rebounding. Campbell's 7.8 rebounds per game ranks sixth in the conference and Kelly's 7.6 rebounds per game is good enough for seventh in the conference. The duo averages 15.4 rebounds per game which puts them as second best duo in the conference for rebounding
 
Lock Haven's offense continues to give their teammates open looks at the basket. Lock Haven as a team averages 15.1 assists per game putting them at fourth in the conference.

The Bald Eagles also lead the PSAC in blocked shots averaging 4.7 per game. The defensive effort is paced by Kelly and Jesse McPherson who have totaled 32 and 27 blocked shots, respectively.

The Bald Eagles will have a week off before their next game. On February 15, LHU will head to Shippensburg University for another PSAC East contest starting at 3 p.m.
