Last night (Fri, Feb. 6), the Bald Eagles won six of 10 bouts, including a pin and two tech falls on the way to a lopsided win over longtime rival Edinboro. LHU jumped all over visiting Edinboro early and soared to a dominating 25-13 victory.
Â
Tonight's match with Rider started with a top-33 battle at 125 pounds. In the end, Werner – ranked No. 15 – proved too strong for No. 32 Jonathan Tropea. Werner got an early takedown and rode out the first period. He led 5-0 after two and put it away in a dominating third period effort. Werner's 15-4 major put Lock Haven up 4-0.
Â
At 133, Fehlman – ranked No. 28 – trailed Richie Koehler, 2-1 after one, but he took control in the second. Â
Shoop – ranked No. 20 – extended Lock Haven's lead to 14-0 with the Bald Eagles second major decision and third straight victory by way of bonus points. Shoop held a 4-3 lead at the end of the first and led 7-3 in the second, before two more third-period takedowns in the third. The workmanlike effort came at the delight of the home fans and pushed Shoop to a 12-4 major over No. 29 Peter Lipari in a top-33 showdown.
