LAX: Morrow and Reddinger power Bald Eagles past Gannon

The LHU lacrosse team opened conference play with a 13-9 win on the road.

Erie, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-2, 1-0 PSAC West) defeated Gannon (4-2, 0-1 PSAC West), 13-9, in their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Opener.

The two teams went back and forth trading goals for the majority of the first half but Lock Haven would hold a decisive 8-5 lead going into halftime. The combination of Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./ Massapequa) and Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./ New Oxford) turned in strong performances combining for six of the teams eight first half goals each recording three goals apiece.

The Haven would use their halftime lead pushing the advantage to 11-6 with 22 minutes remaining. Gannon tried to mount a comeback getting within two scores with 10 minutes remaining, but the Lock Haven defense stood tall to make sure that was as close as the Golden Knights would come. LHU would use the final 10 minutes to their advantage adding two more goals to secure the win for Lock Haven.

Morrow led the way for the Bald Eagles scoring a game high six goals and tallying an assist to give her seven points on the day. The six goals and seven points both mark a season high for the Junior attacker. Fresh off her PSAC West Athlete of the Week Award, Reddinger picked up right where she left off adding four goals and one assist.

Campbell Brant (Shoreham, N.Y./ Shoreham-Wading River), Loren Librizzi (Miller Place N.Y./ Millerplace) and Zoe Waddell (Catonsville, Md./ Catonsville) rounded out the scoring for the Bald Eagles each recording one goal on the day. Librizzi also dished out three helpers in addition to her goal scored.

Lauren Girardi, (Watertown, N.y./ Watertown) continues her strong start to the season turning in another solid effort as one of the PSAC's top goalies. Girardi recorded 11 saves in helping the Bald Eagles pick up an important win to open conference play. The 11 saves today give Girardi double digits saves in four of the five games the Bald Eagles have played to start the year.

The defense was strong in front of Girardi as Allison Barnes (Webster, N.y./ Webster Thomas) and Jenna Wismer (East Greenville, Pa./ Perkiomen) helped slow down the Gannon attack. Barnes was credited with three caused turnovers and three groundballs while Wismer recorded two ground balls and a caused turnover.
