BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (5-8-1, 3-8-1 PSAC East) fell on the road today to Bloomsburg University (11-3-1,10-2-1 PSAC East), 5-1, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
Host-Bloomsburg led 3-0 at halftime. The Huskies took the 1-0 lead 11:36 into the match and they added goals in the 20th and 22nd minutes of play with the three goals coming from three different players in the first half.
Helen Flynn made it 4-0 Bloomsburg in the 56th minute. It marked her second goal of the game after she opened the scoring with the game's first tally in the 12th minute.
In the 77th minute of play, Lock Haven got on the board and made it 4-1 behind a solo effort by
Evelyn Ciaccia (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury). Ciaccia battled and beat two Bloomsburg defenders, before laying a ball straight past the Huskies' goalkeeper.
The goal marked the first goal-allowed by the Bloomsburg contingent in nearly six full matches as Bloomsburg entered the game on a five-game shutout streak.
Bloomsburg would score one final time in the 84
th minute to move the final score to 5-1.
Seniors
Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) and
Taylor Moritz (Harleysville, Pa./Soudertown Area High) played well in a full 90 minutes for the Bald Eagles. The duo continues to help provide experience and leadership for the youthful Bald Eagles.
