KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (0-4, 0-4 PSAC East) dropped a pair of hard-fought games this afternoon (Friday, March 12) at Kutztown University (5-3, 4-2 PSAC East). Lock Haven was edged out by the hosts 3-0 in game one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader and KU picked up the sweep with a 5-1 victory in game two.
Lock Haven dropped game one today, 3-0.
Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) was 2 for 2 at the plate and
Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) picked up a hit for the Bald Eagles.
In game two, LHU took a 1-0 lead in the first after
Mikayla Ruppert (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) singled in a run. That 1-0 Lock Haven lead held until Kutztown tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth. The Golden Bears struck for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 5-1 lead, which proved to be the final.

Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) went 5 1/3 innings, scattering four hits in a solid effort.
Lock Haven officially opened the 2021 season earlier this week on the road at nationally-ranked West Chester.

A reminder, the Lock Haven – Kutztown PSAC East doubleheader originally scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, March 13) in Lock Haven has been postponed and moved to Wednesday, March 17 at 2/4 p.m.
Looking ahead, the Bald Eagles have a four-game series with Millersville scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 19-20. The two teams will open PSAC East play at Millersville on Friday, March 19 before a pair of games back in The Haven next Saturday.
