LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (1-11, 1-11 PSAC East) closed out its four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series with Shippensburg University (9-9, 8-8 PSAC East) this afternoon at home on Lawrence Field.
Shippensburg won game one 12-4 and the visitors completed the sweep with an 11-2 game-two victory. Lock Haven and Shippensburg opened their four-game PSAC East series on Saturday (March 27) at Shippensburg and the Raiders won both games.
Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) homered once in each game and
Casey Carpenter (Spring Brook, Pa./North Pocono) hit a game-one home run.
In game one, Ship scored its 12 runs on 18 hits. Carpenter and McClellan led the way for LHU at the plate in the day's opener. Carpenter was 2 for 3 with her home run and McClellan also finished 2 for 3 with a homer. Carpenter's homer was a solo shot to left-center field in the second inning and McClellan hit a two-run home run to left in the fifth.
In game two, Shippensburg scored 11 runs on 14 hits. McClellan once again had Lock Haven's strong bat and finished 2 for 3 with a third-inning solo home run.
LHU will be right back in action tomorrow (Tuesday, March 30) as the Bald Eagles head to Millersville University for a PSAC East doubleheader (2/4 p.m.). Following tomorrow's games at Millersville, the Bald Eagles will head into their scheduled bye-weekend and not return to action until Tuesday, April 6 at home vs. Millersville (2/4 p.m.).
