Lacrosse drops OT thriller in season finale against IUP

LHU Lacrosse fell in overtime, 14-13, in the final game of the regular season against Indiana (Pa.).

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-7, 4-6 PSAC West) dropped an overtime thriller to Indiana University (Pa.) (6-5, 6-4 PSAC West), 14-13, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West division matchup at Charlotte E. Smith Field.

The Bald Eagles and Crimson Hawks found themselves locked into a back and forth first half, with IUP pulling ahead late to take a 9-6 advantage into the halftime break. LHU clawed their way back into the game tying the game at 10-10 with 24 minutes to play. The two sides traded goals as the rain began to fall and regulation ended at 13-13. The Crimson Hawks scored just 40 seconds in to take the 14-13 win in the pouring down rain.

Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) led The Haven charge and posted a team-best four goals. The senior closed her season in style scoring ten goals in her last three games.

In goal, Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) put in a strong performance making 15 crucial saves to keep Lock Haven alive.

Casey Hibbard (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) and Krysta Reading (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) each posted three points for The Haven scoring two goals and one assist. Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and Addy Borkowski (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) chipped in to the attack as each scored two goals.

Defensively, Allison Barnes (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) scooped up two ground balls along with one caused turnover.
