Setting the Stage:

The Bald Eagles return home to Thomas Fieldhouse for the first time since December 4th to host two Mid-American Conference (MAC) opponents. First on Friday (Jan. 21), LHU hosts George Mason University at 7:00 p.m. Saturday’s dual features a matchup with former Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival Clarion University, also at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse.

Opponent History:

For the Bald Eagles, the meeting with George Mason will be the 15th all time, a series in which LHU holds a 14-0 record, including most recently a 25-17 victory in 2020. In that 2020 matchup, current Bald Eagle 197-pounder Parker McClellan earned a 10-0 major decision to help push LHU to the victory.

LHU meets another familiar foe on Saturday night. The matchup with the Golden Eagles will be the 58th all-time between the two, with the first meeting coming back in 1948, and most recently a 2019 nail biter which came down to the final bout at 285. Clarion took that meeting, but the Bald Eagles hold 32-23-3 all-time record versus the Golden Eagles.

MAC Athlete of the Week:

For the second week in a row, a Bald Eagle wrestler brought home MAC Wrestler of the Week honors. This time it was 125-pounder Anthony Noto after his 4-0 weekend. Noto scored a win over the 23rd-ranked wrestler Joey Prata from Oklahoma, and also notched a fall and two major decisions.

LHU in the InterMat Rankings:

125: Anthony Noto, No. 23

157: Ben Barton, No. 33

285: Isaac Reid, No. 28

Last Time Out:

The Bald Eagles had a busy but successful weekend in their last action. LHU went 3-1 with dual wins over Virginia, California Baptist and Bloomsburg. On Friday at the Virginia Duals, the Bald Eagles dropped a competitive match with No. 18 Oklahoma before securing a win over the University of Virginia. At the Bloomsburg Tri-Meet, the Bald Eagles racked up nine bonus-point victories to notch wins over California Baptist and Bloomsburg.
