Setting the Stage:

The Bald Eagles return to the mat for the first time since a historic December 4th meet that saw LHU defeat two nationally-ranked opponents in then-No. 11 Sacred Heart and then-No. 14 New Jersey City.

The Bald Eagles will face No. 15 Sacred Heart at 2:00 p.m., and then at 3:00 p.m. LHU squares off against the Delaware Valley Aggies to round out the day. At 1:00 p.m. Sacred Heart meets Delaware Valley as part of the Bald Eagle Tri-Meet.

Opponent History:

This weekend’s meeting with Delaware Valley will be the first between the two programs. Similar to LHU, the Aggies are in their first full season of competition. The Aggies will enter Saturday’s dual with an 0-2 dual record. Both teams did compete at the ESU Invitational earlier this year; Lily Sherer faced off with Delaware Valley’s Bridgette Schoultz at 130, and walked away with a pin.

LHU will meet a familiar foe in No. 15 Sacred Heart. Lock Haven defeated the nationally-ranked program back on December 4th, to score the first win in program history, 33-11. A Madison Matta decision followed by a Jessica Johnson pin over nationally-ranked Madison Sandquist, secured the victory for LHU. Since that dual, Sacred Heart has picked up back-to-back wins over Elmira College and New Jersey City University.

What to Watch For:

Jessica Johnson remains ranked No. 8 in the NWCA Coaches Rankings at the 155-pound weight class. She enters this week 7-0 on the season with two pins and two tech falls.

Madison Matta has been strong for the Bald Eagles this season as well. She sits at 7-1 on the year with a team high six pins to boot.

Madison Packer remains undefeated at 109-pounds, and her 3-0 record features a tech fall.
