WILLIAMSVILLE, N. Y. – The Lock Haven men's soccer team (5-7-4) notched a 1-1 tie on the road against Daemen College (5-6-3) on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
Despite the noon kickoff, the Wildcats wasted no time getting on the board in the first half as Cody Cavuoto found the back of the net just two minutes into the game.
Samuel Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) netted the response for the Bald Eagles in the 24
th minute off an assist from
Duc Do (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford). For Hershey, it marks a team-high and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) third-best 10
th goal on the season.
After the opening 45 minutes, Lock Haven held a 9-5 lead in shots, but remained deadlocked with Daemen at 1-1.
In the second half, Lock Haven once again outshot the Wildcats by a 7-5 edge, but were unable to break the Daemen defense for the game-winning goal. Wildcat goalkeeper Harry Firth made seven important saves to keep the game level at 1-1 when the full-time whistle sounded.
In net for Lock Haven,
Brady Freiwald (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) earned the start and was forced into just four saves.
Hershey paced The Haven attack as he searched for another goal and fired off four total shots.
Colton Swanson (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) laced three shots of his own, all of which were on target.
On the backline for Lock Haven,
Ryan Foskey (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) played all 90 minutes of the contest. Do also turned in a solid effort defensively in addition to notching the assist on the Bald Eagles lone goal of the day.
The Bald Eagles also held a distinct 11-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Wildcats.
