KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven football team traveled to Kutztown University (6-2, 4-1 PSAC East) for Week-8 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action today (Saturday, Oct. 22), and the host Golden Bears took home a 35-7 victory behind a strong running attack.
The Bald Eagles (1-7 overall, 0-5 PSAC East) saw several players stand out on defense. Both
Austin Barber (Johnstown, Pa./Greater Johnstown) and
Darryl Pollard (Philadelphia/Upper Darby) finished with 10 tackles apiece, and
Kasir Henry (Philadelphia/School of the Future (Anna Maria)) recorded eight stops.
Quarterback
Danny Sanchez (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman (Stony Brook)) returned to the lineup and threw for 116 yards, and running back
DeAndre Wakefield (Norristown, Pa./Souderton) did all he could to jump start The Haven's offense on the ground. Wide receiver
Marquon Williams (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford (Minnesota State University-Mankato)) made four catches for 74 yards.
Matt Stanton (Fords, N.J./Woodbridge) ran for a TD early in the fourth quarter for the Bald Eagles.
Host Kutztown scored 14 points in each of the first two quarters and led 28-0 at halftime. Darryl Davis-McNeil led the Golden Bears as he rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns.
Lock Haven will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 29 when the Bald Eagles head to West Chester for a Week-9 PSAC East clash at noon.
