Wrestling Begins Busy Weekend at No. 1 Penn State on Friday (Nov. 11)

The Bald Eagles open the dual slate with battles against No. 1 Penn State and No. 8 NC State this weekend.

Setting the Stage:

The Lock Haven Division I men’s wrestling team is in action three times this including a pair of duals against some of the nation’s finest.

First on Friday (Nov. 11), the Bald Eagles square off with No. 1 Penn State on the road in historic Rec Hall at 7 p.m. The Haven follows that up with a Saturday showdown against No. 8 NC State at 3 p.m. in the Journeymen Wrangle-Mania event at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pa. Head coach Scott Moore and the Bald Eagles cap the wild weekend in tournament action at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic hosted at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pa.

Lock Haven tabbed No. 1 in the MAC:

In the newly released Mid-American Conference (MAC) preseason rankings, The Haven comes in at the No. 1 team in the conference following their 2022 MAC Championship. Individually, two Bald Eagles took the top spot at their respective weight classes and two more were tabbed as runner up. To view the full rankings, click here:

Opponent History:

On Friday night, the Bald Eagles meet the Nittany Lions for the 40th time in their history. It will mark the first time since 2016 that the two local rivals have met. On Saturday, The Haven kicks off a new rivalry as the matchup with NC State will be the first in history between the Bald Eagles and the Wolfpack have ever met on the mat.
