GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's basketball team (0-1) kicked off the 2022-23 season at the Atlantic Regional Challenge hosted by Seton Hill against Wheeling University (1-0), but the Cardinals grabbed the 73-43 victory.
Wheeling came out strong and scored a quick 24 points in the opening quarter to lead 24-7. The Bald Eagles came back in the second quarter and outscored Wheeling in the second quarter 13-9, but the Cardinals still led 33-23 at the break.
Wheeling picked up nine straight points to start the second half and pulled away in the third quarter. The Cardinals kept their distance in the fourth and brought home the 73-43 victory.
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) led Lock Haven in scoring with 12 points.
Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) and
Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) also helped on the scoreboard adding nine and six points, respectively.
Robinson paced the Bald Eagles on the glass and chipped in nine rebounds.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) recorded five rebounds and also added a steal.
