LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – In dual meet action today, the Lock Haven University Women's Wrestling team (5-1) travelled to Elmira, New York to take on the Soaring Eagles (3-7). The Bald Eagles came away with the 23-21 victory after three-contested bouts.

Elmira's Merci Jessop started the action with a pin at 123 after a series of forfeits. Her pin moved the score to 10-5 in favor of Lock Haven.

At 136, Madison Matta (Blue Ridge, Pa./Waynesboro) picked up a quick 20-second pin to move her overall record to 10-2. With tonight's effort she moves to eight pins on the year in just 12 matches.

Jessica Johnson (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) defeated Elmira's Skylah Chakouian by an 11-2 decision at the 155 class. Her win marks her tenth on the year and she keeps her undefeated season alive at 10-0. Johnson's win at 155 clinched the 23-21 win for the Bald Eagles.

Tonight's dual victory marks the fifth straight for Lock Haven as the team moves to 5-1 overall. On Sunday, Lock Haven will return home to face Hiram College for the first time and battle East Stroudsburg in a long-due rematch in the Thomas Fieldhouse. Those duals are slated to begin at 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.
