WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (6-9) dropped a doubleheader against West Chester (10-2) on Friday afternoon in what was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener for both sides.

Lock Haven opened the scoring in the first inning when
Jake Mastillo (Roaring Brook, Twp. Pa./North Pocono) notched an RBI single to drive in
Gavin Troutman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley).
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)) picked up the only other RBI for LHU in the fifth inning with an RBI single of his own.

LHU outhit the Golden Rams 7-5 but two separate three-run homeruns for West Chester proved to be the difference in the game.

David Keller (Oreland, Pa/Christopher Dock Mennonite) started on the mound for LHU and went six innings. Keller fanned eight West Chester batters.

Game 2: L, West Chester 16, Lock Haven 3

Game two saw the Golden Rams handle the scoreboard through the first three innings. With a three-run blast, a pair of two-run singles, and a pair of sacrifice flies, West Chester controlled the movement with a 9-0 start.

Gabe Stirr (Canadensis, Pa./Pocono Mtn. East) and Shannon each collected RBIs in the fourth and fifth inning, respectively.
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) launched a solo home run of his own in the seventh inning, but West Chester comfortably brought home the 16-3 win.

LHU is back in doubleheader action against Clarion on March 15, with first pitch scheduled for noon. The originally scheduled single nine-inning game with West Chester has not yet been rescheduled.
