INDIANA, Pa. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Lock Haven University lacrosse team (7-5, 4-4 PSAC) fell by a 15-9 tally in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Indiana University of Pa. (9-4, 6-2 PSAC)Â
Lock Haven held the game close through the first 15 minutes of play, but it was the host Crimson Hawks owning a 5-3 lead after a quarter of play. Â
After the tight opening frame, IUP netted the first five goals of the second stanza to own a 10-3 advantage with 7:05 to play in the first half. Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville) netted her 20th goal of the season to put a stop to the IUP run before Krysta Reading (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored to cut the score to a 10-5 Crimson Hawks advantage which is how the score would remain at the intermission. Â
Out of the halftime break, IUP pushed its lead to seven goals on multiple occasions, but the Bald Eagles wouldn't go down without a fight. Â
Three straight LHU goals over a seven-minute stretch of action encompassing the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters allowed the Bald Eagles to trim the gap to four goals at a 13-9 tally with 11:09 to play. Â
Following the final Lock Haven tally, the Crimson Hawks controlled the rest of the contest and netted two goals along the way to take a 15-9 victory over the Bald Eagles. Â
Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Bald Eagles attack with three goals on the afternoon, including a pair of tallies off of the free position. Â
Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) turned away five IUP shots over 49-plus minutes of action. Â
