Men’s Soccer battles to scoreless draw with Bloomsburg

The Bald Eagles and Huskies created a handful of great opportunities, but neither side was able to make the decisive breakthrough.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (2-4-1, 0-1-1 PSAC East) and Bloomsburg University (4-1-1, 0-0-1 PSAC East) played to a 90-minute 0-0 draw in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on Wednesday night at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The Bald Eagles started quick and looked poise to make a breakthrough in the fourth minute when Davis Dull (Altoona, Pa./Blair County Christian) broke past the goalkeeper, but a fantastic goal line clearance kept the game level at 0-0.

Bloomsburg also carved out a strong chance in the opening half, but Jamison Bohner (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) headed the ball off the line on the back post to preserve the tie.

Coming out of the halftime break at 0-0, the Bald Eagles once again pressed hard for the winning goal, but stout defensive work from both sides kept the game scoreless.

The Huskies created the best chance of the second half on a breakaway in the 89th minute, but LHU goalkeeper Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz (Euskadi, Spain/Koldo Mitxelena (Robert Morris)) saved the tie for The Bald Eagles with a brilliant left-handed save. The stop was the final meaningful action of the match and it was one of six saves for Ruiz de Eguilaz.

Defensively, Ryan Foskey (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), Zane Puhala (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) and Bohner all played 90 minutes and were crucial in preserving the clean sheet.

Leading The Haven's attack, Dean Lewis (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Model Boys School), Dull and Colton Swanson (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) each notched one of the three Bald Eagles shots on goal but were unable to best Bloomsburg goalkeeper Brady Rimple.
