Volleyball drops road contest at West Chester

The Bald Eagles traveled to their divisional opponent for each team’s second conference match of the season.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. –The Lock Haven volleyball team (1-12, 1-1 PSAC East) faced off against West Chester (12-1, 2-0 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play and the Golden Rams won 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-18).

West Chester made their presence felt to start the night with a 25-9 win to take the first set.

Set two saw a spark from LHU as Madison Eckley (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) and Gabriela Fialova (Ledec and Sazavou, Czech Republic/(Indian River)) each collected two aces in the set, but WCU grabbed four of the last five points to win the set, 25-17.

The final set of the night kept both teams battling throughout, but eventually the Golden Rams pulled ahead to win the set 25-18 and stay undefeated in conference play.

Fialova led the match in aces as she picked up three overall. Alyssa Daley (Everett, Pa./Everett) led LHU in blocks with four to help pace Lock Haven's defense.

For West Chester, Hailey Lewis led the way in kills, delivering 11 for her team and Nicole Dimiris controlled the net, blocking seven for the match.

UP NEXT:
Lock Haven will be right back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 24) when the Bald Eagles take on Millersville on the road in a 1 p.m. PSAC East match.
