Game Recap: Football |

FB: Collier, Bald Eagles run by Bloomsburg

Chris Collier ran for 253 yards and two TDs, and the Lock Haven football team’s run game powered the Bald Eagles to a 21-13 victory over Bloomsburg.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.Chris Collier (Lawrence, N.Y./Lawrence (Wagner College) rushed for 253 yards and two touchdowns to spark a punishing ground game and it helped the Lock Haven football team power its way past host Bloomsburg (1-6, 0-4 PSAC East) today in a rain-soaked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division clash.

With the win, the Bald Eagles improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in PSAC East play.

For Lock Haven, the four wins are the most in a single season since The Haven won four games in 2016. It's just the third four-win season for the Bald Eagles in the last 25 years.

Collier's 253 rushing yards are the third-most ever in a single game for Lock Haven and they are the most this season by any individual player in the PSAC. The league's leading rusher carried the ball 35 times and powered the run game. The milestone outing marked the most rushing yards by a Bald Eagle in a game since Hall of Famer Joe Speese ran for 238 vs. Shippensburg in 1978.

In all, Lock Haven rushed for 328 total yards.

Backup quarterback Kyle Zajack (Middletown, Conn./Capital Prep (Central Connecticut State)) got the start and helped lead the offense with a rushing a touchdown of his own.

Chris Hicks (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) hauled in four catches and Mister Hogue (Oakman, Ala./Oakman (Alabama)) rushed for 59 yards.

With 27 seconds left in the first quarter, Collier busted into the end zone from 49 yards out and Lock Haven led 7-0.

The host Huskies led 10-7 at halftime, but Zajack's 19-yard TD run early in the third quarter put the Bald Eagles up 14-10.

Leading 14-13, Collier found the end zone again, and his six-yard burst with 3:08 left in the third put The Haven up 21-13.

Lock Haven's defense also played well and two key Bald Eagle turnovers helped secure the win. The Haven recovered a Bloomsburg fumble in the third quarter, and an Izzy Ramos (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) interception with 1:05 left in the game helped ice the victory.

Cody Romano (Newton, N.J./Blair Academy (Penn State)) finished with six tackles and a forced fumble, and Davien Vernon (Florence, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished with six tackles.
