MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – With its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason hopes on the line, the Lock Haven volleyball team picked up a clutch 3-0 sweep (28-26, 31-29, 25-12) over Millersville University on the road on Friday night (Nov. 10).
With the victory, the Bald Eagles are just one win away from punching their ticket to the PSAC postseason tournament for the first time since 2015.
The Bald Eagles, who are tied in the win column with West Chester for the fourth and final postseason position, can clinch a berth with a victory over the Golden Rams tomorrow afternoon in West Chester.
The Haven snaps a four-game skid, while earning its fifth sweep of the season.
The Bald Eagles worked hard to earn the sweep, fighting through consecutive extra-play sets before routing the Marauders in the match-deciding set, 25-12.
In set one, the Bald Eagles overcame a 19-15 deficit to claw their way back to earn a 28-26 victory.
Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) tied things up at 26-26 before
Alyssa Daley (Everett, Pa./Everett) secured the victory with back-to-back service aces.
In set two, Lock Haven led 24-22, but the Marauders used a 4-0 run to lead 25-24. With their backs against the wall, the Bald Eagles three ties and four lead changes to steal the set, 31-29. Daley and Rembold led the way with two kills during the run.
Rembold finished with a match-high 13 kills, while Daley and
Reagan Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) added 10 each to lead the Bald Eagles' offense.
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) had another impressive night, adding 40 assists and seven digs, while
Natalie Acevedo (Camuy, Puerto Rico/Paula Freire Social Justice Charter School) and
Madison Eckley (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) finished with 19 and 16 digs, respectively.
